The FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2023 Qualifiers draw took place on Friday in Germany, revealing to teams which aspire to reach the showpiece event their opponents along the path.
The 38 nations that will take part in the Qualifiers were drawn into 10 groups, with each team playing the others in its group in home and away games, following a round-robin system.
The groups are composed of four teams, with the exception of Group E and Group J, which include three teams each. The two FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2023 co-hosts, Israel and Slovenia, are also taking part in the Qualifiers.
The results of the FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2023 Qualifiers draw were as follows:
Group A: Belgium; Bosnia and Herzegovina; Germany; North Macedonia
Group B: France; Ukraine; Lithuania; Finland
Group C: Spain; Hungary; Romania; Iceland
Group D: Turkey; Slovenia; Poland; Albania
Group E: Serbia; Croatia; Bulgaria
Group F: Russia; Montenegro; Denmark; Austria
Group G: Greece; Great Britain; Portugal; Estonia
Group H: Italy; Slovakia; Luxembourg; Switzerland
Group I: Belarus; Czech Republic; Netherlands; Ireland
Group J: Sweden; Latvia; Israel
The 10 group winners and the four best second-placed teams will earn the 14 tickets from the Qualifiers to the big event. A total of 16 teams will compete at FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2023, with two berths reserved for Israel and Slovenia.
For the second-placed teams across all 10 groups to be ranked on a like-for-like basis, the results against the fourth-placed teams in the groups of four will not be taken into consideration.
In case one or both of the FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2023 hosts finish among the 14 spots that qualify for the event, then the next best second-placed team(s) will also qualify.
The FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2023 Qualifiers will be played over three windows on November 11-14, 2021, November 24-27, 2022, and February 24-27, 2023.
