Dorian Finney-Smith expressed his determination to turn the perceived “disrespect” towards the Brooklyn Nets into motivation to build a winning culture, following months of trade rumors involving him. Despite speculation, Finney-Smith stayed with the team for training camp alongside veterans Cam Johnson and Dennis Schroder under new head coach Jordi Fernandez.
“We’re not giving up or tanking,” Finney-Smith said, referencing predictions of just 17 wins for the Nets. “We should take that as disrespect and use it as motivation. Ben Simmons looks healthy, and if he gets back on the court, he could really help this team.”
Despite Mikal Bridges’ departure and low projections for the season, Finney-Smith emphasized the importance of hard work and maintaining transparency with coach Fernandez and GM Sean Marks. The presence of veterans like himself, Johnson, and Schroder will be key in creating a strong foundation and exceeding expectations.
