Doc Rivers falls ill, Darvin Ham steps in to lead Bucks over Sixers

Ham guides Milwaukee to 126-113 win in Philadelphia after Rivers exits mid-game

Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers fell ill late in the first half of Thursday’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers and had to leave the bench. Although he remained inside the Wells Fargo Center, Rivers watched the remainder of the game from his office, with Darvin Ham taking over head coaching duties.

“He just tapped me on the shoulder and handed me the ATO sheet, said ‘you got it from here, man. My stomach’s messed up,’” Ham shared post-game. The former Lakers head coach returned to Milwaukee’s bench this season and guided the team to a composed and convincing 126-113 victory.

Star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo praised the staff’s depth and familiarity: “We know coach Darvin. It’s home. We’ve got a great coaching crew—whoever steps up, we trust them.” The Bucks’ resilience showed once again, even when facing unexpected challenges.
