Dirk Nowitzki: It’s the most complete team in German basketball history

Dirk Nowitzki before praised the team talking with Marc Stein

Germany just qualified for the first time in its history to the Olympics semifinals.
And Dirk Nowitzki before praised the team talking with Marc Stein.

Germany won last year’s World Cup and are a strong contender in this year’s Olympics heading into the group stage. Dirk Nowitzki, the best player in the history of German basketball, spoke highly of the current squad in his comments to Marc Stein.

“This is the best generation we’ve ever had,” Nowitzki said. “It’s the most complete team in German basketball history.”

Nowitzki led Germany to a third-place finish at the 2002 World Cup, second place at EuroBasket in 2005 and a place in the 2008 Olympics, but there was little depth on those teams beyond Nowitzki.
