Pallacanestro Reggiana announces it has reached an agreement to extend the contract of head coach Dimitris Priftis until the end of the 2025/2026 season.
Greek from Athens, class of 1968, Priftis arrived at Pallacanestro Reggiana last summer and during his first season in red-and-whites, he led the team to fifth place in the standings, conquering both Playoff qualification and the Final Eight of the Italian Cup.
These are the words of president Veronica Bartoli: “From the very first moment we met coach Priftis, last summer, we clearly expressed to him our desire, as a society, to start a path that was not short-term, but that would lead to the construction of a cycle. We are therefore extremely pleased to continue together with a coach who, in addition to the great technical and team-management qualities he has shown, I would also like to emphasise how he has ‘married’ the city and the community of Reggio Emilia, learning our language and fitting perfectly into the dynamics of this square. To all intents and purposes I consider Dimitris now an ‘adopted Reggio’ and we are grateful to share our ambitions with him’.
Coach Dimitris Priftis commented: ‘My first year here corresponded with a magnificent season for me, both as a coach and personally. I really enjoyed the cooperation that was created with all the people at the club and also living in Reggio Emilia. I felt love for the team and the city and I am truly grateful that this journey will continue. I want to thank the ownership and management for the support and trust they have shown towards me and obviously for giving me the opportunity to continue to be part of this club. We have to have faith in our work and, above all, we have to do it together, as a big group, to build another season of satisfaction”.
