The Detroit Pistons have shocked the NBA world by firing coach Monty Williams, despite a six-year, $78.5 million contract signed only a year ago.

The move opened up a new position for some of the biggest names still on the market, including JJ Redick, a former NBA shooter and current ESPN analyst recently linked to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo Sports reported that “James Borrego could be a name to keep an eye on, as could Redick, currently a leading candidate for the Lakers’ coaching job.” Additionally, Redick has a connection with the Pistons’ new president Trajan Langdon due to their connection to Duke and their partnership in New Orleans in 2019.
