Derrick White starred in the Boston Celtics’ Game 4 win over the Miami Heat with 38 points, his new playoff career-high.
The guard finished with 15/26 from the field and 8/15 from long distance, as well as 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 blocks.
“I think any person that gets a couple going in and you start making some tough ones, you feel like you just can’t miss, and that basket seems huge,” he said. “It was a lot of fun.”
On the season, the Celtics have rarely lost when White has good shooting percentages: 33 wins in the 36 games the guard has shot at least 42 percent from long range, and 34 of 38 when he has finished with at least 46.8 percent from the field
“Every time I have the same mentality: try to be aggressive, read the game, don’t force anything and just do what I have to do,” White explained. “Tonight I had a couple of good chances early on and then my team did a great job finding me and giving me a chance to be aggressive, so credit to all these guys as well.”
“I’m just having fun out there,” he said. “Competing at the highest level on the biggest stage, that’s what it’s all about.”
