AS Monaco is pleased to announce the signing of German international Daniel Theis

AS Monaco is pleased to announce the signing of German international Daniel Theis (32 years old, 2.03m), a 2023 World Champion with Germany. Theis joins the club on a contract for the remainder of this season and the next, coming directly from the NBA, where he has spent the past seven seasons. Having previously played only in Germany and the United States, Theis will now experience a third league. He also returns to the EuroLeague, eight years after his last appearance with Brose Bamberg, where he played 54 games, averaging 9.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, and a 10.1 efficiency rating.

A key player in Germany’s historic 2023 FIBA World Cup victory, where they defeated Team USA in the semifinals before triumphing over Serbia in the final, Theis is a versatile big man capable of playing both power forward and center. He is known for his defensive prowess and team-oriented playstyle. This season, Theis started with the New Orleans Pelicans (4.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in 16 minutes per game), before being traded to Oklahoma City and subsequently waived. With 452 NBA games under his belt, he brings an impressive résumé to Roca Team, eager to contribute to Monaco’s success. Additionally, he will reunite with assistant coach Ilias Kantzouris, whom he previously worked with in Bamberg (2014-2017).
