The German big man seeks a bigger role in Europe after eight NBA seasons

After eight seasons in the NBA, Daniel Theis is set to return to Europe, finalizing a deal with AS Monaco, sources tell BasketNews. The 32-year-old German chose Monaco over more lucrative offers, including one from Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens.

Theis, who played for the Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls, Indiana Pacers, Los Angeles Clippers, and New Orleans Pelicans, was looking for a team where he could play a key role. His multi-year deal is expected to include an NBA exit clause.

In the NBA, he appeared in 411 games, averaging 7.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.3 assists. Theis was also instrumental in Germany’s 2023 FIBA World Cup win and played a pivotal role in the Paris 2024 Olympics.
