Daniel Gafford out six weeks, Mavs’ frontcourt depth in crisis

Dallas Mavericks center Daniel Gafford has suffered a Grade 3 MCL sprain and will miss at least six weeks, adding to the team's injury woes

The Dallas Mavericks have suffered another injury blow as Daniel Gafford is expected to miss at least six weeks due to a Grade 3 MCL sprain in his right knee. The injury occurred during Monday’s loss to the Sacramento Kings, and Gafford reassured fans via Instagram: “Y’all wait for me… Be back soon.”

The Mavs’ frontcourt is now in crisis, with Anthony Davis sidelined for at least four weeks due to an adductor strain, Dereck Lively II still out with a stress fracture in his ankle, and Dwight Powell missing 14 straight games with a hip injury.

Despite the setbacks, Dallas has managed to win back-to-back games, with 6-foot-7 two-way player Kessler Edwards stepping in as an emergency center.
