Dallas Mavericks’ Lively sidelined 2-3 months with ankle fracture

Dallas’ starting center to miss extended time as injuries pile up for the Mavericks

Dallas Mavericks center Dereck Lively II will be out for 2-3 months due to a stress fracture in his right ankle. Lively, a key player in last season’s Finals run, is averaging 9.1 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game.

With Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving also battling injuries, coach Jason Kidd stated, “Next man up; we’ve been through this before.” Lively’s absence further thins Dallas’ big man rotation, already missing Dwight Powell.
