Dallas Mavericks rookie center Dereck Lively II was ruled out of Sunday’s 116-107 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 3 of the Western Conference finals due to a neck sprain. Lively was injured in the second quarter after being inadvertently kneed in the head by Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns. He left the court with the help of teammate Markieff Morris and was taken for a scan to assess the severity of the injury. Currently, Lively is not in the NBA’s concussion protocol.
