In a recent interview, Indiana Pacers General Manager Chad Buchanan discussed Tyrese Haliburton’s health during the latter part of the season and the playoffs. Buchanan revealed significant details about the player’s physical condition and how it affected his performance on the court.
According to Buchanan, Haliburton never used his physical condition as an excuse, demonstrating admirable determination and willingness to play. “Tyrese would play through anything he could, as long as he could hold up. However, I believe that in the back of his mind, he knew he had to adjust and adapt his style of play because he wasn’t 100% healthy,” Buchanan stated.
Haliburton had to deal with soreness during the second half of the season, but it was manageable enough for him to continue playing. Buchanan emphasized how the player had to modify his approach: “He wasn’t able to get to the rim as much, so he had to find other ways to contribute to the team.”
Despite these limitations, Haliburton managed to maintain a high level of performance in the last 40+ games of the season, which Buchanan described as “really remarkable.” Even though Haliburton would never admit he wasn’t at 100%, the General Manager noted that it was evident.
This adaptation and Haliburton’s ability to remain effective despite physical challenges highlight his value as a player and his determination to contribute maximally to his team. Buchanan’s words shed light on Haliburton’s resilience and his crucial role for the Pacers, confirming his importance even when not in optimal condition.
