Since returning from a hamstring issue, Cam Thomas has carved out a steady sixth-man spot — and the Brooklyn Nets aren’t planning to expand it right now. The team likes the progress, but the rotation remains conservative.
In Sunday’s loss to Chicago, Thomas leaned into playmaking, finishing with three points and 10 assists in 24 minutes. It’s a shift the staff has welcomed, especially his willingness to facilitate.
“We’re happy where he is,” coach Jordi Fernandez said, making clear the priority is how Thomas’ body responds. The caution is tied to context: Thomas is approaching free agency and has dealt with recurring hamstring issues after being limited to 25 games last season; since returning he’s at 12.0 points on just over 40% shooting, with Brooklyn 4-16 in games he has played.
