Bronny James’ arrival in the NBA may come later than some had expected, and that may delay his father LeBron’s dream of having father and son play in the league at the same time, or if possible even on the same team. In fact, the Los Angeles Lakers star’s son no longer appears in ESPN’s 2024 mock draft, which moved the 19-year-old to the 2025 mock draft.
Moreover, even in the 2025 mock draft ESPN did not list young James among the first picks, but placed him in the second round at call No. 39 overall. So even if he chooses to play another year in college to work on his game, there is no guarantee that this will significantly improve his draft odds.
Young James is playing his freshman season at the University of Southern California, and his college debut was delayed by a cardiac arrest over the summer, which took time to recover.
This season Bronny James is averaging 5.5 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game in just over 20 minutes of play in his 19 appearances for USC, which has an 11-16 record.
