Brescia stuns Milano to set Coppa Italia Semifinal against Pesaro
Reigning champions go down in Torino while Carpegna Prosciutto narrowly prevails over Varese
Coppa Italia 2023 first Semifinal, on Saturday, will be between Germani Brescia and Carpegna Prosciutto Pesaro. The former made the first huge upset of the tournament beating EA7 Olimpia Milano 75-72, ending a 6-game LBA losing streak. Brescia had both a 18-point lead at the start of the second half and a 6 point deficit early in the 4th but was able to dethrone the two-time reigning champions behind CJ Massinburg’s 16 points. Gabriel added 13 and Petrucelli 11 for Brescia while Milano had 18 from Baron and 13 each from Luwawu-Cabarrot and Napier.
Brescia, on Saturday, will play Carpegna Prosciutto Pesaro for a place in the Final. Jasmin Repesa’s side has narrowly beaten Openjobmetis Varese 84-80. After holding a large (+17 after 10′) lead Pesaro suffered Varese’s comeback but had the upper hand behind Charalampopoulos’ 20 points. Abdur-Rahkman and Gudmundsson had both 13 points while Johnson with 18 points was Varese leading scorer.
