Boston Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck confirmed Thursday he will remain in charge of the team until 2028, despite the franchise’s controlling stake being up for sale.
Grousbeck joined President Joe Biden at the White House to celebrate the team’s record 18th NBA championship.
The ownership group plans to finalize the sale by 2025, with Grousbeck staying as “Governor” until the second closing. Grousbeck highlighted the Celtics’ chances to repeat as champions, as they face the Wizards on Friday with a 12-3 record.
