Boston Celtics center Kristaps Porzingis is expected to miss the first two games of the Eastern Conference Finals, but there is optimism he will return later in the series, sources told ESPN.
Porzingis has been progressing in his recovery from a soleus strain in his right calf, increasing his on-court activities in anticipation of a return during the conference finals. However, he still needs more time to be game-ready, sources said.
The Celtics will face the Indiana Pacers in the finals. Porzingis has been out since April 30, after sustaining the injury in Game 5 of the first-round series against the Miami Heat, and missed the entire conference semifinal series against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
