Billy Baron, on the threshold of 34 years old, two-time champion of Italy with Olimpia Milano, announced via his X profile his retirement from playing basketball. Decisive were the injuries of the past year. Last season he had ended his season prematurely due to a right elbow injury.
After college he landed in Europe in 2014, where he played for Lietuvos Ritas, Charlerois, Murcia and Eskişehir and finally Red Star in 2018. In the first season they won the ABA Super Cup, the ABA League in which he was the MVP of the finals and the Serbian Super League, and his winning basket in the fourth and final game of the finals against Partizan is famous. The following season was not played to the end because of the coronavirus pandemic, so he moved to Zenit, with whom he won the VTB League in 2022. In the same year he moved to Olimpia Milano, where he remained until this year.
