Besiktas Istanbul is continuing to put its roster together ahead of its return to the BKT EuroCup, with Leyton Hammonds being the latest player to join the club. Hammonds (2.03 meters, 28 years old) is coming off a strong season with fellow Turkish side Gaziantep, as he averaged 11.2 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 21 Turkish League games. The power forward had good shooting percentages in last season’s Turkish League, having shot 53.1% on two-pointers, 37.3% on triples and 89.5% from the free-throw line.
Hammonds does have previous experience in the EuroCup, as he posted 10.0 points, 3.7 rebounds and a 6.2 PIR during the 2019-20 campaign with Asseco Arka Gdynia. Now, he returns to the EuroCup with a Besiktas side that made a number of impressive signings, including head coach Dusan Alimpijevic, guards Derek Needham and Jonah Mathews and big man Angel Delgado.
