FIBA and Euroleague Basketball are currently in “very advanced negotiations” for a potential merger between the BCL and EuroCup, as reported by Spanish media La Opinion de Malaga.
According to BasketNews, the merger should take place in the 2025-26 season, with 36 starting, with a subsequent system of promotion and relegation.
At a meeting in Mies, Switzerland, on Thursday, the BCL’s 11-team club council discussed the competition’s future moves, both in the short and long term.
