The first edition of the BCL Americas, launched in September 2019 by FIBA, was claimed by the Argentinian side of Quimsa, who beat Flamengo 92-86 in the final on Friday.

Brandon Robinson was named the MVP of the tournament, and finished the Final with 26 points on 9-15 shooting.

Quimsa qualifies for the Intercontinental Cup 2021 that will take place in February 2021, and joins BCL champions San Pablo Burgos in the competition.

This is what Horacio Muratore, former FIBA President, said at the launch of the competition in September 2019: “This new international league of clubs will be the most important in the continent and will be a platform to advance the growth of our brand in the region. This is not a succession of Liga de las Américas, but rather a new product of our development project that will foster a balance between representation and quality. We will begin with 12 clubs, but we are open to incorporate more in upcoming editions.”

The BCL Americas has already signed relevant strategic partnerships, including those with broadcasters like DIRECTV and DAZN for the Brazilian market.
