Barcelona player commented the officiating after his team’s away loss at Panathinaikos in Round 31

Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, Alex Abrines had some tough words in criticising the officiating of Panathinaikos v Barcelona, Round 31 of Euroleague won by the Greeks after overcoming a 16-point deficit in the first half.

“We have been second almost the entire season, but they have no respect for us. The game changed after Ataman was issued a technical foul”, Abrines said. “Their criteria changed and instead of punishing them they punish us. It wasn’t just today, it’s happening every week. Today they haven’t had any respect for a guy like Ricky Rubio, they haven’t even called a foul against him. We make mistakes ourselves, but there are things that happen each game that we’re fed up with. They don’t let us compete, it’s unfair and something has to change. It can’t be that the referees make so many mistakes and then go home like nothing has happened”.
