According to Encestando, Barcelona has started working on selecting potential coaches for the first team after deciding earlier this week not to renew Roger Grimau, a decision that was officially announced this Saturday.
The names most analyzed were Lakovic, Itoudis, and Xavi Pascual, but all three were ruled out for various reasons. The chosen one is Joan Peñarroya, with whom conversations have just begun, and the agreement still needs to be finalized. Peñarroya, 55, is currently without a team after being dismissed by Baskonia last November.
After ten seasons as a coach, spread between Andorra, Manresa, SP Burgos, Valencia Basket, and Baskonia, this would represent the biggest challenge of his career.
