Ataman challenges the Celtics: “World champions? Come beat Panathinaikos in OAKA”

Coach Ergin Ataman issues a challenge to the Boston Celtics, “If you want to become NBA champions, come and beat us in OAKA.”

Ergin Ataman gave an interview to Rafine TV in which he talked about the market of his Panathinaikos, but also about the fact that the Boston Celtics call themselves “world champions” after winning the NBA title, as it happens every year with the champion team of the American Basketball League. The Panathinaikos coach then issued a challenge to the Celtics, these are his statements.

Ataman challenges Boston Celtics: “Boston Celtics tweeted that they are world champions after becoming NBA champions. EuroLeague also tweeted by posting our picture and saying they have to beat this team first. They see themselves very high, but to be world champion they have to come and play a game in Europe first. They are not world champions: if you want to be world champions, come and beat us in OAKA.

On the market: “We have Lorenzo Brown, who is a great choice, he was the best point guard in the EuroLeague last season. We are looking for a player who can play both 4 and 5, but we are not in a hurry. We’re going to make this one who’s going to be another big shot, but we’re talking to everybody, we don’t have a specific name today. We are also looking at NBA players because they are not in a hurry to sign. Here in Europe a lot of people sign right away because they don’t want to wait: last year I talked to an outfielder several times, but he didn’t wait and signed with another club. That’s too bad because that club didn’t go to the playoffs and we became European champions”.
