Los Angeles lost Anthony Davis early in the game against Philadelphia when he exited with 2:10 left in the first quarter with the Lakers leading 20-17.
Without him, the team struggled to contain Tyrese Maxey, who finished with 43 points. LeBron James led L.A. with 31 points but had eight turnovers that derailed the comeback attempt.
“When our best player goes down mid-game, it’s tough,” James admitted. Coach JJ Redick pointed to fatigue as a major factor in the loss. Davis, who had been in great form recently, did not speak postgame.
