Anadolu Efes sporting director İsmail Şenol spoke about the future of head coach Luca Banchi during an interview with Levent Yavuz and Ali Emre Dedeoğlu of HT Spor.
“Our president and the players are both happy with Banchi. The option is mutual at the end of the season. His contract is 1+1, but our goal right now is the championship”
Below are more statements from the executive, who revealed the club’s interest in bringing back Micic and ongoing negotiations to retain several players:
“We’re in contact with Vasilije Micic, but it won’t be easy to make him an offer that fits our budget. We really like Vasa — he’ll come to Istanbul at the end of May. He’s turning 32 next year, so it’s only natural that he’s thinking about the most important contract of his career. Due to the new Salary Cap rules, it won’t be easy for us to make him an offer, and we won’t be able to enter a bidding war…”
“We are negotiating with Ercan Osman, Erkan Yılmaz, Elijah Bryant, PJ Dozier, and Rodrigue Beaubois for new contracts. There’s no negativity.”
Finally, a regret about the current season:
“Stanley Johnson is a great player, but he didn’t accept his role. I’m sure he’ll become an important player somewhere else. Nwora also has a lot of talent.”
The Nigerian national team forward had signed a 1+1 deal last summer.
