The Tasmania JackJumpers have announced the signing of 27-year-old American guard Josh Adams on a one-year deal for the 2021/22 Hungry Jack’s NBL season.
Adams joins the JackJumpers after most recently suiting up for Italian team Virtus Bologna, winning the Italian League in 2021.
This followed stints with highly regarded EuroLeague outfit Anadolu Efes as well as seasons in Russia, China, Turkey, Spain as well as in the NBA G-League with Raptors 905.
Adams turned heads with the Dallas Mavericks at the NBA Summer League in 2018, with multiple NBL teams linked to his elusive signature.
The native of Phoenix, Arizona, has also represented the United States in FIBA competition, helping his country during the 2019 World Cup qualification windows.
JackJumpers fans can expect Adams to bring athleticism and excitement to Tasmania’s backcourt in NBL21.
JackJumpers Head Coach Scott Roth said: “This is a great signing for the JackJumpers and I’m thrilled to have Josh on board and can’t wait to have him in Tasmania as soon as possible.
“Josh is a really exciting player and is set to wow all JackJumpers fans when he is on the court. He has elite athleticism, and we believe his skillset is a perfect fit for what we are trying to build.
“Josh has a tremendous amount of international experience and has been exposed to the NBA. He has also been a winner across the world and will be a strong addition to the culture we are creating at the JackJumpers.
“We are delighted to have Josh on board as our first import signing and are looking forward to announcing another import signing in the coming days.”
Josh Adams said: “I couldn’t be more excited to be coming to Tasmania and joining the JackJumpers.
“When I spoke to Scott Roth about who the JackJumpers are and what we are trying to build, I knew it was a journey I wanted to be a part of. I want to help leave a positive mark on the JackJumpers as we construct a team all Tasmanians can be proud of.
“I have always been intrigued by the NBL as the league has become one of the best and most respected competitions in the world. I’m thrilled to finally be joining the NBL and I couldn’t think of a better team to do it with than the JackJumpers.
“I look forward to getting over to Tasmania and getting to work. I also can’t wait to meet all the JackJumpers fans and make a positive influence in the Tasmanian community.”
Adams is the first import that the JackJumpers have signed ahead of their inaugural NBL season joining a line-up that includes Will Magnay, Jack McVeigh, Jarrad Weeks, Clint Steindl, Jarred Bairstow, Fabijan Krslovic, Sam McDaniel and Development Player Sejr Deans.
