Adam Silver says that a NBA decision on a January start would be “tough to be based on the Olympics”

NBA commissioner has spoken about the likely chance that NBA season and Tokyo Olympics dates will collide.

In his interview with CNN’s Bob Costas, NBA commissioner Adam Silver spoken about the likely chance that NBA season and Tokyo Olympics dates will collide.

"It’s unclear whether the Olympic Games will go on as scheduled, and I think it would be tough for us to make a decision on January [referring to the likely date for the start of the 2020-21 NBA season] based on the Olympics happening as scheduled, that’s so unclear. We may be up against a scenario where the top 15 NBA players will not be competing in the Olympics, either American or International players playing for other countries, that’s something we will have to work through. These are highly unique circumstances, and I think that just as it is for the Olympic movement it is for us, we’re going to just find a way to meld and mash those two competing considerations", Silver said.
