On Monday night, Adam Silver was a guest on the NBC Sports Boston broadcast of the Celtics vs. Knicks game. The subject of NBA expansion came up throughout the game. After the completion of the new media rights agreement, Silver virtually confirmed that it is on the NBA’s to-do list.
“Couple of cities in the US” are the first places the NBA will investigate, according to Silver. Las Vegas and Seattle are likely to be among those cities. Regarding worldwide expansion, Silver was questioned. He stated that the NBA is still considering getting involved in Vancouver and Mexico City.
Montreal has contacted the NBA to indicate interest in adding a team, according to Silver. Silver discussed how quickly basketball has taken up in Canada.
