Doc Rivers described Giannis Antetokounmpo as a difficult player to coach, pointing to his relentless downhill style and tendency to force the action.
“He’s not easy. He plays at this crazy downhill pace,” Rivers said. “He has this great passing ability, but he doesn’t have super IQ at the same time. He really has one way. Every play he wants to force it.”
Rivers then focused on execution. “I wished he learned how to execute better. The thing he needs to still learn is the value of execution. How important it is in practice and shootaround to lock in on execution.”
He added that Giannis now has “a coach who’s as good as there is in execution.”
