The Golden State Warriors are reportedly monitoring Nikola Jokic’s situation in hopes that the three-time MVP could become available in the summer of 2027.
According to Jake Fischer, Golden State believes it could create enough cap flexibility to make a major move and still views itself as a destination for elite talent. “Are we sure Jokic isn’t going to become available next summer?” Fischer said while describing the Warriors’ thinking. Golden State is banking on the presence of Stephen Curry and the possibility of pursuing a star either through trade or free agency. The franchise previously explored moves for Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant without landing either player.
Jokic remains under contract with Denver, currently in the fourth season of a five-year, $276 million deal that includes a player option for the final year.
