Unicaja Malaga have reached an agreement to sign Kevin Knox through the end of the season, pending a medical examination. The 27-year-old American power forward, who stands 2.03 metres tall, arrives in Spain after an extensive NBA career featuring more than 300 appearances.
Knox is known for his athleticism, ability to attack the rim and threat from beyond the arc. These qualities allow him to contribute in different offensive situations and help on the boards. After spending one season at the University of Kentucky in 2017-18, he was selected ninth overall by the New York Knicks in the 2018 NBA Draft.
Knox began his professional career in New York, averaging 12.8 points and 4.5 rebounds in his rookie season. He later played for the Atlanta Hawks, Detroit Pistons, Portland Trail Blazers and Golden State Warriors. Across 320 NBA games, he averaged 7.3 points and 2.8 rebounds while shooting 34% from three-point range.
He also competed in the NBA G League, where he averaged 21.4 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists with the Windy City Bulls last season. After beginning this preseason with the Orlando Magic, Knox is now preparing for his first experience in European basketball. He will wear number 11 for Unicaja and compete in both the Liga Endesa and the Basketball Champions League.
