Donald Trump criticized LeBron James over his actions during the national anthem before the 76ers’ game against the Knicks.
The Philadelphia star kept his response short: “It’s a slow news day at the office.”
Trump accused James of disrespecting the United States after a video showed him continuing some warmup movements, including what looked like a golf swing and a jump shot, while most of his teammates stood still during the anthem. The president called James a “TOTAL DISGRACE” and said he should apologize.
LeBron chose not to escalate the controversy, repeating: “Slow news day at the office” when asked about Trump’s comments before Philadelphia’s home opener. Trump and James have publicly criticized each other on several occasions over the years.
