Donte DiVincenzo is determined to return to action this season after suffering an Achilles tear during last year’s playoffs. The Minnesota Timberwolves guard made his intentions clear at the start of training camp.
“I wouldn’t come in here with the mindset of I’m gonna play next year. No, the mindset is to play this year,” he said. During his rehabilitation, DiVincenzo has spoken with Jayson Tatum, Damian Lillard and Tyrese Haliburton, among other players who have suffered the same injury, to learn from their experiences. “It’s been very, very helpful those days or weeks where you feel like you’re not gaining so much ground as you should,” he said.
DiVincenzo is also documenting his recovery process. Last season, he averaged 12.2 points and 4.1 rebounds while shooting 38% from three-point range. Coach Chris Finch also highlighted his leadership and importance to the team.
