LBA Executive Advisor and former NBA player Andrea Bargnani was the protagonist of a panel at the Festival dello Sport in Trento, organized by La Gazzetta dello Sport and moderated by journalist Davide Chinellato.
Bargnani shared several anecdotes from his playing career and also discussed his current role in the LBA, following a long period of studies and time away from basketball.
“But when Maurizio Gherardini became League President, I felt the need to come back. Basketball is part of my body and now I want to make my experience available to younger people. My relationship with Maurizio is like that between a father and a son.”
Looking ahead, Bargnani also addressed the potential impact of NBA Europe.
“With the arrival of NBA Europe, important opportunities are opening up,” said the former NBA player. “There is a lot of passion: the clubs need to work together. We have been working for less than a year: the sky is the limit. There is plenty of room for growth, and there is a lot we can learn from the NBA. Economic sustainability, for example, is essential. What we have more of are the values connected to the passion of the fans and certain environments.”
