After the victory over Olimpia Milano, Partizan Belgrade head coach Joan Peñarroya analyzed his team’s performance, focusing on the attitude shown by his players and the importance of starting the season with a win.
“We are probably satisfied for three important reasons. First of all, because of my players, because I think they played a very good game, with a lot of energy, playing together and showing our fans the idea that we want to build. The second important thing was the atmosphere, which was incredible. With this kind of atmosphere and energy, it is probably not easy to win in this Arena. And the third thing is, of course, the victory.
This is only the first round, out of a total of 38. It is a marathon, but it is important to start the season with a win, especially because, for example, we now have three consecutive games on the road. I think the most important thing is that this is the path we want to follow, as well as the character and style of play that we can have this season.
It is very clear that we have to improve. We can play better, especially in five-on-five situations, and share the ball better. Defensively, we had problems in a few situations, particularly with Peters and Gudurić. But I am happy because I think we played a very good game,” Peñarroya concluded.
