Dereck Lively II not cleared for Mavericks training camp

The Dallas center continues recovering from foot surgery and remains uncertain for the start of the regular season

Dereck Lively II has not yet been cleared to participate in Dallas Mavericks training camp, according to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon.

The 22-year-old center underwent foot surgery in December and has experienced no setbacks during his rehabilitation. Dallas, however, has not determined whether he will be available for the regular-season opener.

Lively has appeared in only seven games since last season began, averaging 4.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.6 blocks. His contract situation also remains significant, with the deadline for a rookie-scale extension set for October 19.
