BC Roma officially presented itself to the city at its home, the PalaTiziano, in front of more than 1,000 fans. The event marked the first meeting between the new club, Rome and its supporters, officially kicking off the 2026-27 season.
Donnie Nelson, General Partner of BC Roma, opened the presentation by outlining the ownership group’s vision and the ambitions behind the club’s creation.
“We have a lot of work to do, but the team is strong. This is a project that has been in the works for a long time. Rome has all the characteristics to be a winning project,” Nelson said.
Sergio Scariolo then outlined the values and sporting culture on which BC Roma intends to build its future.
“We have to aim for excellence and understand that if we want to demand something, we have to give something. We want to win back the passion of this city and this crowd. With patience.”
Head coach Marco Magro discussed the team’s identity, the work that has already begun on the court and the mentality that will guide the group throughout the season.
“Playing basketball in Rome is special. I approach this opportunity with a great sense of responsibility, so that together with these people we can bring a city and a club to a level of basketball where we can compete through professionalism, hard work and sacrifice. We want to bring Rome back to its former glory.”
Finally, captain Nico Mannion spoke about the team’s desire to build a strong connection with Rome and its fans.
“There is a lot of excitement. We chose to come here because we know the project and the vision. We want to take Rome as high as possible. The name on the front of the jersey is very important. We know the responsibility we have, and we will give our best.”
