Olympiacos secured its first victory of the European season, albeit not in the regular season but in the EuroLeague SuperCup. Fenerbahçe was defeated in the closing moments of a game in which the Turks led for much of the contest, but a strong fourth quarter by defending champions Olympiacos completely turned the tide of the game.
The final score was 92-90, thanks to a 23-12 run by the Greeks, whose aggressive defense completely threw Fenerbahçe’s offense off balance. A basket by Evan Fournier (with 53 seconds left) proved decisive in the closing moments, while the Turks failed to find the basket to tie the game or even win it—first with Shields, then with Horton-Tucker, and finally with Wade Baldwin IV.
For Olympiacos, Evan Fournier scored 19 points, Jean Montero added 13, and Donta Hall contributed 12 points and 12 rebounds.
For Fenerbahce, Shavon Shields scored 18 points, Braxton Key added 17, and Marcus Bingham scored 10.
