Christos Stavropoulos spoke exclusively to RealOlimpiaMilano ahead of the Super Cup, discussing the new Olimpia Milano and the work still needed to build the team.
“There is great enthusiasm. There are many new players and we have to bring the group together, managing to play as a team as soon as possible.”
“It would be difficult to say we are ready”
The general manager does not hide the fact that Olimpia is behind in its preparation.
“It would be difficult to say that we are ready. I don’t think any of the four teams are completely ready.”
The priority is therefore to progressively build the team’s identity, with the EuroLeague playoffs remaining the major target for the season.
The strategy on Italian players
Stavropoulos also addressed Olimpia’s approach to Italian players, denying that the club has changed its strategy.
“We have always tried to get the best available.”
“Our history speaks for itself”
Finally, Stavropoulos offered an indirect response to Virtus Bologna’s recent comments.
“We don’t talk about other teams. Every club’s history should speak for itself. And history says that this is a club that has existed for 90 years, with the same registration number, and has won 32 Italian championships.”
