Cotelli: “We want to give our players freedom”
As Maxima Roma prepares for its first season in Serie A and EuroCup, head coach Matteo Cotelli is focused on getting his team ready for the official start of the season.
The coach, represented yesterday at the presentation by Miro Bilan, Mirza Alibegovic and Gora Camara, wants his players to have the freedom to express their individual qualities while maintaining a strong defensive identity.
“We have built a team that can often give players the freedom to express their basketball, while at the same time playing with a lot of defense,” Cotelli said.
The goal in Serie A
Maxima Roma will aim to stay close to the four or five teams currently considered the strongest contenders at the top of the Serie A standings.
It is an ambitious but measured target for a club entering its first season. Cotelli has previously highlighted versatility as one of the roster’s main strengths, with the coaching staff focused on building a clear identity through daily work.
“There is great willingness from everyone to make sure we are ready for our debut on September 27 against Napoli,” Cotelli added.
“All roads lead to Rome”
Maxima Roma’s new identity is also reflected in the smallest details.
The collar of the new black-and-gold jerseys features the phrase “All roads lead to Rome.”
A fitting message for a project that wants to establish itself in the capital and, above all, build a future that will last for years to come.
