Denver made only one contract proposal during Watson’s restricted free agency before trading him to the Cleveland Cavaliers

The Denver Nuggets offered Peyton Watson a four-year contract worth approximately $18 million per season, featuring ascending salaries and a team option.

According to Bennett Durando of The Denver Post, Watson immediately rejected the proposal. Denver kept it available but never returned with an improved offer during the following seven weeks.

The sides had different views of Watson’s position within the organization. The Nuggets had concerns about his dependability and maturity, while the forward’s camp reportedly felt disrespected. Watson was eventually sent to Cleveland in a sign-and-trade.
