Isaiah Thomas has recently opened the door to the possibility of playing in Europe after his NBA career, expressing his desire to spend at least one season overseas and experience European basketball. His comments have apparently caught the attention of Zalgiris Kaunas.
The Lithuanian club responded on social media with a rather intriguing message to the former NBA All-Star: “What about coming courtside to Zalgirio Arena to experience the peak atmosphere of European basketball?” The comment may simply have been a playful invitation, but it has inevitably fueled speculation.
There is currently no indication of negotiations between Isaiah Thomas and Zalgiris, and the club’s message should not be interpreted as confirmation of any potential deal. Still, the idea is certainly intriguing: Thomas playing in the EuroLeague, perhaps in front of the passionate crowd at Zalgirio Arena. The Lithuanian club has clearly thrown the suggestion into the mix.
