Jason Kidd recently spoke with the All-Star Magazine YouTube channel. Among the topics discussed by the former Dallas Mavericks head coach was Cooper Flagg, who was named Rookie of the Year after a standout first season, with Kidd playing a key role in putting the ball in his hands and giving him significant responsibilities.
“Well, I think he’s on pace (to become one of the Greats). So, when you talk about LeBron and what he did as a young player, and then also Cooper’s ability, you know, he’s one that loves to win, wants to win, likes to work, is not afraid of the moment…. So, I would say he is on pace. I think those (LeBron and Antetokounmpo) are his comp. Now, can he stay healthy like LeBron? And then I think all greats are judged with championships. Not so much stats, but that’s the one stat that will stand out. And hopefully Cooper can achieve that”
Kidd was also asked about the most important move of the offseason: “I think the one that’s going to stand out and everyone’s talking about is LeBron going to Philly. It automatically puts Philly in the in the talks of winning a championship. They could be the best team in the East….That’s just him at the age of 42. He still has that power and and so it’s just a credit to him. But I also think Philly because they do have a young backcourt that’s very exciting to watch and Maxey and DJ”.
