Jonathan Kuminga explains choosing Minnesota over Lakers

Jonathan Kuminga has explained why he chose the Minnesota Timberwolves over the Los Angeles Lakers. The forward wanted an environment that would allow him to remain focused on basketball and his development.

“Not to come off disrespectful, but I didn’t feel like Los Angeles was the right environment for me,” Kuminga told The Athletic. “There’s a level of expectation and outside noise surrounding the Lakers that can become distracting.”

Minnesota’s basketball situation ultimately convinced him: “I felt Minnesota offered a better defensive fit and a clearer role for me. Ultimately, it was the better situation.”
