The 168-78 victory set new records for winning margin and combined scoring in FIBA Asia Cup qualification history

Palestine routed Maldives 168-78 in the FIBA Asia Cup 2029 Pre-Qualifiers in Almaty. The 90-point victory also secured Palestine’s place in the second round.

According to FIBA, it was the largest winning margin in Asia Cup qualification history. The previous record belonged to Bahrain, which defeated Bangladesh 126-52 during the 2018 Pre-Qualifiers.

The combined total of 246 points also set a new record for an Asia Cup qualifying game. Tamer Habash led Palestine with 22 points, while Mohamed Irushan scored 14 for Maldives.
