AS Monaco’s financial problems could also cost the club its EuroCup place. After being denied a license to compete in France’s professional leagues, serious doubts have emerged over Monaco’s participation in the European competition.
According to Mozzart Sport, Bosna Sarajevo is ready to replace Monaco and has a strong chance of receiving the vacant spot. A final decision is expected within the next few days, with the new EuroCup season scheduled to begin in approximately one month. Bosna recently returned to the ABA League and has not played in the EuroCup since the 2007-08 season.
Monaco had already lost its EuroLeague place earlier this summer, with Besiktas taking its spot. The expanded EuroCup will feature 32 teams divided into four groups of eight.
