Jonas Valančiūnas got his new adventure with Žalgiris Kaunas off to the best possible start. In the first preseason game, won by the Lithuanian side 97-85 against Riga Zelli, the center showcased his offensive and physical impact.
Valančiūnas finished the game with 20 points, shooting 7/10 from the field and 6/7 from the free-throw line. He also added 9 rebounds, including 4 offensive boards, 6 fouls drawn and a game-high 28 efficiency rating.
The Lithuanian big man needed just 19 minutes and 10 seconds to put together an impressive performance, emerging as one of the main protagonists of Žalgiris’ victory. A debut that immediately confirmed Valančiūnas’ importance in Kaunas’ plans ahead of the new season.
