The Golden State Warriors are ready to offer Stephen Curry a two-year, $136.7 million max extension as soon as Saturday, when he becomes eligible for a new deal. Brett Siegel discussed the situation during Clutch Scoops.
The final decision will be up to Curry, who could also choose to take a discount or postpone the extension until next offseason. At that point, he would enter unrestricted free agency and could negotiate a longer-term deal to remain with Golden State.
According to Siegel, however, Curry’s future is clear: he will not leave the Warriors and will retire in Golden State.
“He’s not going to be leaving the Golden State Warriors. They’re not going to trade him. They’ve had no conversations about that, he’s not approaching the Warriors about that. He’s going to be retiring with the Warriors,” Siegel said.
